Miswak – Natural Toothbrush for Teeth and Gums
Miswak is a 100% natural and fully biodegradable alternative to traditional oral hygiene accessories. Sourced from the root of the arak tree (Salvadora Persica), commonly known as the "toothbrush tree", it combines the functions of both a toothbrush and toothpaste.
In Arab countries and Eastern cultures, the miswak (also known as siwak) has been successfully used for thousands of years, making it the oldest and most primal form of dental care. The length of the stick is approximately 16 cm.

The key to the remarkable effectiveness of the stick is its rich, entirely natural chemical composition. The wood of the arak tree contains, among other things, natural fluorides, tannins, saponins, vitamin C, flavonoids, silica, calcium, and potassium.

How to use
Using a miswak is simple and intuitive. To bring out its full properties, follow the steps below:
- Preparation: Rinse the stick thoroughly under running water.
- Exposing the core: Peel or gently cut away about 1 cm of bark from one end of the stick with a knife.
- Forming the "bristles": Gently chew the exposed end or make small cuts until the wood separates, resembling a soft brush or the bristles of a traditional toothbrush.
- Brushing: Brush each tooth individually using gentle sweeping motions. Be careful not to press the stick too hard – this will help avoid irritating the gums. You can easily check with the tip of your tongue if the surface of the teeth has become smooth and free of plaque.
- Hygiene after use: While brushing, spit out any detached wood fibers. After you finish brushing, rinse the tip and leave the stick in a dry, well-ventilated place to dry completely.
- Refreshing the toothbrush: When the bristles at the tip lose their properties and the cleaning effectiveness decreases (usually after a few days), simply cut off the used fragment and repeat the peeling and chewing process on a fresh piece of wood.
Important Precautions
- Intended use: Product for oral hygiene only.
- Caution while brushing: Do not use excessive force. Pressing too hard can lead to enamel damage or gum irritation.
- Do not swallow: Wood fibers that naturally detach during brushing should be spat out continually.
- Maintaining hygiene: The stick is a personal product – for hygiene reasons, it should not be shared with others. Always store it in a clean and dry place, out of the reach of small children.
- Wear and tear: In the event of a crack, damage, or severe wear of the "brush", immediately shorten the stick or replace it with a new one.
- Contraindications: If any irritation of the mouth or gums occurs, immediately stop using it and consult a dentist.
