The elegant SURAI copper pitcher with a capacity of 750 ml is not only a designer accent for the kitchen, but above all a daily ritual of drinking water from a copper vessel. Why drink water from a copper pitcher?
1. Natural antibacterial properties
Copper has been studied for years for its effects on microorganisms. Studies have shown that storing water in a copper vessel for several hours can significantly reduce the number of bacteria in contaminated water—this is known as the oligodynamic effect.
In practice, this means that water from a copper pitcher may stay fresh longer than water kept in ordinary plastic or glass (although it should still come from a safe source).
2. Ayurvedic tradition – “tamra jal”
In Ayurveda, water stored overnight in a copper vessel (known as tamra jal) is believed to support the body’s balance—traditionally associated with maintaining the balance of the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, and supporting digestion.
3. Copper as a trace mineral
Copper is an essential trace mineral—adults need about 0.9 mg per day.
Water stored in a copper vessel may contain small amounts of copper ions, although most daily intake typically comes from food (nuts, seeds, cocoa, vegetables). The pitcher can therefore be an addition to a balanced diet, not a replacement for it.

How to use the SURAI copper pitcher

Fill the pitcher with boiled or filtered drinking water.

Leave it for 6–8 hours—traditionally overnight, so you can drink 1–2 glasses of this water in the morning.

It’s best to drink the water within 24 hours and then refill the pitcher with fresh water.

Do not use the pitcher for acidic drinks (lemon juice, fruit compotes, carbonated beverages, vinegar). Acid can react with copper, forming copper salts, which can be harmful in larger amounts.
