Description
Kuripe made from Sawo Wood "Jaguar"
The "Jaguar" model is a carved kuripe where the front part is shaped as a jaguar’s head with an open mouth. It’s a more object-like form than a classic kuripe - the facial detail, the curve of the mouth, and the carved lines make it look like a small figure rather than just a tool with a simple body.
Material - sawo wood
Sawo (often associated with the sapodilla tree) usually has a warm brown tone, sometimes with a slightly reddish or caramel hue. The structure is often fairly fine, and after finishing the surface becomes smooth and pleasant to the touch. Depending on the piece, natural color transitions, small streaks, and differences in brown saturation may appear.
Handcraft and differences between pieces
Each piece is handmade, so the wood shade, grain layout, and the intensity of carved details may vary slightly. In carved models like this, differences can be more noticeable because edges and recesses catch light differently.
What sets this variant apart
-
a carved jaguar head with an open mouth
-
the warm brown palette of sawo wood
-
clear detail and a “figurine-like” character while keeping the kuripe function
If you want a kuripe with a strong animal motif and a hand-carved form, the "Jaguar" in sawo wood is one of the most distinctive models.
